Yachting Australia NSW:
PSSAC is a member of Yachting NSW (YNSW) and as
such racing is conducted in accordance with the AYF/ISAF Racing Rules
of Sailing.
In accordance with
Rule 4 of the AYF Racing Rules of Sailing: ‘The responsibility for a
boat’s decision to participate in a race or to continue racing is hers
alone.’ In other words sailors undertake sailing at their own risk.
YNSW also provides
support and advice to assist with club management, insurance and
training courses for club members.
NSW Consumer
Protection Agency, Office of Fair Trading:
PSSAC Inc is an
Incorporated Association (sporting club) in accordance with the rules
and regulations of the NSW Consumer Protection Agency, Office of Fair
Trading. The main benefits of Incorporating are that it allows our
organisation to:
·
Create a legal entity that is
separate from the members
·
Provide a certain amount of
limited liability for members
·
Continue regardless of changes
to membership
·
Enter into enforceable
contracts
Insurance:
Yachting Australia members aged between 5 and 80 have the
benefit of a Personal Accident policy while sailing, cruising,
participating and officiating in races, race training and while on the
premises of an affiliated yacht club and limited cover while travelling
directly to and from such activities. The cover includes death and
disability compensation, non-Medicare medical expenses and, for income
earners, an accident weekly benefit. The policy is arranged by Marsh Pty
Ltd and provided exclusively to Yachting Australia members. It is
underwritten by Lloyds syndicates through their Australian agent AFA Pty
Ltd. This is a summary only, and for full policy wording please go to
the YNSW website.
PSSAC Inc strongly
recommends that every member take out an individual insurance policy for
their boat with at least $10,000,000 third party liability coverage.
This is a requirement for competing at most major regattas in
Australia.
NSW Maritime
Authority:
PSSAC is registered
with the NSW Maritime Authority and has an approved Aquatic
Licence No 2471.991 issued under NSW Water Traffic Regulations in
order to conduct sailing races and regattas in Port Stephens waterways.
