PORT STEPHENS SAILING
AND AQUATIC CLUB Inc.
The Port Stephens Sailing and Aquatic
Club Inc. (PSSAC) is located on the eastern shores of Soldiers Point
within the stunningly beautiful Port Stephens waterway. The Port
Stephens scenery is magnificent and members enjoy sailing on an
unpolluted, uncrowded waterway that is World class. Predominant breezes
in summer are fresh North Easterly sea breezes which provide excellent
sailing conditions. Races are held every Sunday; members usually arrive
at the Club around 11am; racing starts at approximately 1 pm, wind
permitting. We usually conduct at least 2 short races each Sunday. Our
season runs from early September through to late April. Races and
regattas are advertised on this site and also the Club
Race Program
The Club hosts
two major regattas each year (November and July) and occasionally hosts a
major State or National Championship for one of the YA classes over
either Easter or Christmas.
The predominant class
sailed at the Club is the Olympic Laser Class. However, all classes of
off-the-beach sailing boat are welcome. At present we are also trying to
build a cat class; so bring down that boat that’s been sitting in the
backyard collecting dust! Racing is the best way to learn sailing
skills. You can be as serious or relaxed about the racing as you like.
All tastes are catered for, with the emphasis on a social, friendly
atmosphere. New members are always welcome. If you don’t own a boat or
can’t sail but would like to learn we can help with advice. Go to our
Membership
page for
more details. PSSAC provides a great opportunity to get out on the water
and enjoy what this great area has to offer and make some new friends at
the same time. |
